Jonathan Weaver is an associate professor of
mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering and Science in the University
of Detroit Mercy. He teaches statics, dynamics, vehicle dynamics, robotics,
machine design, design of experiments, mechanical measurements laboratory, computer
aided engineering, and systems architecture. Industrial and research experience
prior to joining the university included developing numerous analytical models
of Naval shipboard systems and power plant systems as well as developing path
planning algorithms for assembly of space trusses. His research interests and
publications relate to robotics, vehicle dynamics, design of experiments, robust
design, multimedia based engineering education, and the product development
process. He has worked with a big three auto maker on several design of experiments/robustness
projects and also as a CAD (I-DEAS) curriculum developer/instructor. He holds
a BS degree from Virginia Tech, and MS and PhD degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute.
