David Barbe

Dr. David Barbe is a professor of electrical
and computer engineering and the executive director of MTECH, a unit in the
Clark School of Engineering where the entrepreneurship initiatives reside. His
responsibilities include planning and executing strategies for the campus incubator,
TAP, managing the technology transfer program for the entire UM System, MIPs,
and teaching the Technology Entrepreneurship graduate class he designed. In
his role as faculty director of the Hinman CEOs Program, he is the strategic
leader for this nationally acclaimed program. Dr. Barbe won a national award
from the ASEE as the most outstanding entrepreneurship professor in the nation
in 2003.
Dr. Barbe received the PhD degree in electrical engineering in 1969 from The Johns Hopkins University. He has published and presented over 100 papers in the areas of electronic devices and engineering entrepreneurship.
