Jay Hoffman

Mr. Hoffman has spent thirty-five years as an
engineer and a manager for companies in the aerospace industry. In this time
he has developed new products and acquired numerous patents for airborne navigation
instruments. For the last fourteen years he has been employed in engineering
education at Fairfield University, where he conceived a program to train technologists
in management disciplines, technical problem solving and inventiveness. In addition,
as an associate professor, he has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses
in engineering. In this work he has created several new graduate courses in
technical problem solving. His technical field of expertise is in structural
dynamics where he is currently doing research in applications for shape memory
alloys.
