Jane Parnes

Dr. Jane Parnes is professor of medicine and a member of the Program in Immunology at the School of Medicine, Stanford University. She received her MD degree from Harvard and did her clinical training at Massachusetts General Hospital. She did postdoctoral research at both MIT and NIH before joining the faculty at Stanford in 1982. Together with Dr. E. Mellins, she has developed a curriculum called “Introduction to Medicine for PhDs.”

Dr. Parnes’ research focuses on the immune system. Her current work involves studies of the mechanisms regulating the activation of B lymphocytes and controlling the balance between tolerance to self-proteins and autoimmunity.
