Jeff and Rich Sloan
biography :: conference marerials
Jeff and Rich Sloan are the founders of StartupNation
as well as venture capitalists and consummate entrepreneurs. The Sloan brothers
continue to prove that there is no mountain too high to climb — and as
true entrepreneurs — they’re having a blast along the way. They
are the perfect role models for budding entrepreneurs: they’ve faced the
many challenges of entrepreneurship and are still creating new businesses every
day. Accomplished inventors in their own right, the Sloan brothers have obtained
patents for products that have been commercial successes, including the Battery
Buddy®, which was licensed and brought to market by a Fortune 500 company.
As teenagers, they bought and sold HUD houses. As young adults, they started
and sold one of the world’s leading Arabian horse breeding operations,
and grew a consumer products import company with best selling products. In the
mid-90’s, the Sloan brothers created Sloan Ventures, www.sloanventures.com,
an early stage venture development and financing firm that has launched a dozen
technology-based businesses. In 2002, the Sloan brothers created StartupNation
to expand their passion for transforming back-of-napkin ideas into real businesses.
This fast-growing multimedia company offers entrepreneurs the ultimate resource
for living the life they’ve always dreamed of – by starting their
own business. In addition to appearing at events throughout the country, hosting
online seminars, and providing advice through www.startupnation.com, they’re
also heard on StartupNation Radio, a nationally syndicated weekend call-in program
that offers advice to entrepreneurs in all phases of the business cycle. They
have been featured on CNN, CNBC and Fox News Channel and in numerous publications
such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur.com,
Inc., and Fortune Small Business. For additional insights into the world of
the Sloan brothers, visit www.startupnation.com. The Sloans live their dream
of “running their own show” in Birmingham, Michigan.
