Shahram Taj

Dr. Shahram Taj is a professor of operations
management and systems optimization in the College of Business Administration
at the University of Detroit Mercy. He is also the academic co-director of the
Product Development Program. He has published refereed articles in journals
and proceedings such as Applications of Management Science, Decision
Sciences, Interfaces, International Journal of Production
Research, Methods and Models of Operations Research, Socio-Economic
Planning Sciences, and Computer and Industrial Engineering. He
has conducted over 100 projects in the auto industry, covering productivity
improvements in existing and proposed processes, optimizing design of machining
and assembly lines, and whole factory design. He received the Franz Edelman
Finalist Award for Achievement in Operations Research and Management Science
in 1999. His current research interests are supply-chain optimization, lean
manufacturing, product/process design and development, and application of technology
in productivity improvement in manufacturing and service operations. He earned
his PhD in industrial engineering and operations research from the University
of Massachusetts.
