The Legal Bridge between Business and Engineering
M. Thomas Arnold, Claire Cornell, George Vozikis, University of Tulsa
This paper will discuss the integration of law into the University of Tulsa Certificate in Innovation and Product Development and the integration of an interdisciplinary component into the College of Law's Certificate of Entrepreneurial Law. Attention will be given not only to a description of what is being done at the University of Tulsa, but also to such issues as the benefits derived from the interdisciplinary curriculum, the challenges faced in constructing and offering such a curriculum, and the feedback received from undergraduate, graduate, and law students regarding the curriculum. The addition of the legal perspective into an interdisciplinary curriculum is an important and innovative accomplishment at any institution interested in providing a well-rounded learning experience for student innovators and inventors.
