A Proposed Method for Reliable Innovation
While there are many helpful tools and techniques for business
and technical analysis, there are few, if any, methods for creating robust new
product ideas. This paper presents a methodology that combines research and
synthesis in an iterative cycle with a cross-disciplinary team to reliably define
new product innovations. Several examples from student and professional work
are employed to illustrate the method. This session also discusses Prof. Conley's
current research into incorporating design theory and methods throughout the
Illinois Institute of Technology's undergraduate engineering curriculum.
