Entrepreneurship in the Liberal Arts: Reflection & Change
This paper describes the evolution of the entrepreneurship studies program (ESP) at Muhlenberg College. During summer 2004, a task force met to evaluate the ESP and consider possible changes. The task force identified several goals. First, the ESP should be more open and available to a wider variety of students. Second, the ESP should be more explicitly interdisciplinary. to entrepreneurial activities as early as possible, and then revisit those activities in more detail in subsequent courses. The revised minor consists of four core courses in entrepreneurship, and three entrepreneurial electives chosen from a list of courses in a variety of disciplines. In the future we hope to develop additional courses that will appeal to students in the ESP as well as other programs.
