When problem based learning (PBL) was introduced and gained popularity, it was
touted as an approach that allowed the learner to experience the complexities
of the problem immediately and gain practical experience in what would otherwise
have been a very dry learning experience. Problem-based learning has taken
many forms. The one constant is that problem-based learning presents the problem
first, followed by any necessary materials. This paper presents a qualitative
research project comparing the experiences of the learners, learning outcomes,
assessments, and student interviews for two problem presentation methods. |
