Engineering Design, Invention, and Entrepreneurship for Baccalaureate and Associate Degree Engineering Students
Thurs 9:00 am - 2D
Eric Granlund
This presentation describes methods used in teaching engineering design and the inventing process to freshmen in Engineering Design and Graphics 100. In this course students invent a new, marketable product, material, or process. They describe their ideas in business letters and forward them to industry for evaluation. In some instances, they receive a response concerning the feasibility of their ideas. This early contact with industry is exciting for students, and may become an aide in retention. The presentation also describes an instructional module entitled Design for Manufacture, teaching students fundamentals of engineering design and design for manufacture.
