| Student failure in technical programs is costly for their universities, the students themselves, and society as a whole. To help ensure student success, the University of Arkansas created short courses (affectionately known as summer camps) in innovation and team-building, used in many different group applications. Camps focus on developing an innovation/problem-solving mentality, communications among participants, and teamwork skills. In this session, Professors Ken Vickers and Ed Sobey will describe how the camps are set up, what activities they use, and what feedback has been received from participants in the various summer camp configurations. A demonstration camp (workshop) will be presented later in the conference. |
