Intrapreneurship is the application of entrepreneurial skills within the corporate environment. A generous gift from the Lear Corporation in 2002 established The Lear Entrepreneurial Center at Lawrence Tech, a comprehensive academic program that to help students integrate business and entrepreneurial skills with engineering technical skills. The first course offerings focused on basic business skills, Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, and Law/Ethics. In Fall 2003, a new course, Corporate Entrepreneurship, was developed which studies the nature of intrapreneurship and the effective implementation of entrepreneurial strategies in large engineering enterprises. This session discusses the development of and initial experience with this course.
