Understanding How the Environment and Tools Affect Effective Collaboration in Higher Education

Wayne Chung, Georgia Institute of Technology

One of our nation’s most important resources is our ability to consistently bring innovative ideas to solve problems. In higher education, our responsibility is to provide the best practices and tools to the next generation of innovators. Great results occur when multidisciplined and multi-talented people work together on a common goal. This session investigates how the context of the space and tools of communication and collaboration can be maximized in the higher education teaching environment. With the cooperation of PolyVision and Steelcase, the leader in electronic whiteboard and presentation technology and furniture systems, we have initiated a partnership that begins to understand the current state of higher education collaboration and what the next design and development should be for the best environment and tools that enable our future collaborative people and teams.
