A Certificate Program in Entrepreneurial Engineering

Mark Polczynski,
Marquette University

Marquette University’s College of Engineering is increasing its emphasis on entrepreneurial
engineering. A key element is a new Certificate in Entrepreneurial Engineering, being offered through the existing Masters of Science in Engineering Management jointly supported by the Colleges of Engineering and Business. The purpose of this presentation is to outline the origins of the Certificate Program, the rationale behind the program, the primary components of the program, and the college’s long-range plan for entrepreneurial engineering and this program’s role in that plan. Of special importance is the program’s approach to systematically stimulating formation and success of entrepreneurial teams attempting to generate new technology-based business opportunities. The certificate will be offered for the first time in fall 2006.
