Abigail Garner graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1973 with a BS in biological sciences and worked for many years in basic research laboratories. She has had research experience in many areas, including environmental stress, veterinary medicine, lipids and cell membranes, immunology and neurobiology. In 2002, she graduated from Stanford University with a Masters degree in biological sciences (emphasis on biotechnology). She is currently an associate site editor for bmesource.org, a biomedical engineering portal being developed by more than thirty universities across the U.S.
