John H. Linehan is a consulting professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. He is also the executive
editor of bmesource.org. Prior to joining Stanford, Linehan was vice president with the Whitaker Foundation, the Bagozzi
professor of biomedical engineering and the founding chairman of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette
University, and adjunct professor of physiology and medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Linehan was president
and a founding fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He was president of the Biomedical
Engineering Society and is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. He received a Distinguished Service
Award from the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been the Distinguished Lecturer of the
