Scott Magids directs the University of Maryland’s venture incubator and accelerator - programs that spin out new companies
from university research and support those new enterprises with executive recruiting, fundraising, business planning, and
product development. Magids has been a principal creator and driver of technology entrepreneurship programs at UMD, and
he teaches courses on technology ventures. Since 2003 alone, his incubator companies have raised more than $20 million in
angel and venture investments. In addition to his work at UMD, Magids is a successful entrepreneur and venture investor. He
has founded and run multiple firms in the areas of IT services, decision informatics, research, and private equity investments.
He has led numerous venture capital and buyout transactions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
