Tom Mason is the director of the Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) program and professor of economics
at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He was founding vice president for entrepreneurship and business planning of Rose-
Hulman Ventures and continues there as an innovation fellow. In addition to teaching, he has served Rose-Hulman as head of
Humanities and Social Sciences, vice president for administration and finance, and founding director of the institute’s MSEM
program. While on a three-year leave from Rose-Hulman, Mason served as CFO and CEO of a 140-person network management
systems business. He has been advisor or director for several high tech firms and is currently working with engineering
faculty of several schools to integrate entrepreneurship and engineering education. Mason received his PhD in economics
