James K. O’Grady is an associate professor and director of the Industrial Design Program at the University of Calgary. He specializes
in the practice and management of design and has practiced, taught, and studied design and management in Canada,
the United States, and Great Britain. Prior to joining the University of Calgary, O’Grady was chair of design and director of
graduate design management studies in the School of Art at Northern Illinois University. His firm, O’Grady Design, specializes
in the design of consumer products and design management programs. Dr. O’Grady has a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship from the
University of Calgary; an M.A. from the Department of Design Research, Royal College of Art; an MBA from The Ohio State
University; a B.A from the University of Guelph in Ontario; and an AOCA in industrial design from the Ontario College of Art
and Design.
