Lawrence M. Sung holds an appointment as law school professor and director of the Intellectual Property Law Program at
the University of Maryland School of Law, and is a partner in the intellectual property law firm of Schwartz, Sung & Webster.
Sung earned his B.A. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, his Ph.D. in microbiology from the U.S. Department of
Defense—Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and his J.D. from American University, Washington College of
Law. He served as judicial clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has published extensively in the area
of intellectual property law, including issues concerning biotechnology and technology transfer, and is the author of Patent
Infringement Remedies and The Patent Law Handbook.
