Lauren J. Way is the associate director for a muti-faceted college program in applied design, invention, and entrepreneurship
at Hampshire College. Her work in entrepreneurship began in 1992 when she opened an international commodities trade company
with her Russian partners in the former Soviet Union. Based in Yarolslavl, Russia, she directed the international exchange
of consumer commodities at a time when the country was first experimenting with free trade. Way later worked overseas in
international finance law at the Moscow-based branch of White & Case, served as a college instructor abroad, and facilitated
in the 1996 Olympics in Georgia. She has a B.A. from Smith College, an M.Ed. from UMass Amherst, and is currently finishing
work on a doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership.
