LiAnne Yu is a strategic director in the Technology Studio of Cheskin, a consulting firm that guides innovation through a deep
understanding of people, cultures, and change. Yu specializes in designing user experiences and brand positionings based
on deep understandings of the cultural, emotional, and technical needs of people in their everyday contexts. Prior to joining
Cheskin, she was field research manager at Ricoh Innovations, where she lead ethnographic research teams to explore new
opportunities for multimedia applications. As senior ethnographer at both Point Forward and GVO, she managed a myriad of
mobile wireless technology projects with clients such as Ericsson and France Telecom. Yu has conducted design research in
China, Japan, India, Russia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, and across the U.S. and EU. She speaks Mandarin fluently, along
with conversational Vietnamese and Japanese.
