Interdisciplinary Service Learning Entrepreneurship

Florida Gulf Coast University, 2007 - $5,000

This grant will assist in redesigning the Service Learning in Engineering and Engineering Entrepreneurship courses at FGCU to better serve the engineering student body as well as the southwest Florida community. The two courses will follow an integrated lecture-lab format, with each student required to submit an application for a particular service learning project. Students will be divided into E-Teams, and the curriculum will emphasize problem solving and innovative design through in-class activities. The service learning aspect of the courses will introduce students to engineering in a societal context and requires students to spend a minimum of 15 hours working with a community service or educational organization.
