Project Innovation

University of Maine, 2007 - $23,300

This grant supports the University of Maine's effort in developing, implementing, evaluating and disseminating a novel graduate curriculum in Innovation Engineering (a trademark of UMaine). The new campus-wide minor program includes four core classes in innovation and engineering, three of which have already been developed, with the supplement of two additional courses from the student's discipline of interest. The minor teaches students how to apply innovation to their individual disciplines.

The fourth course, supported by this grant, is called Project Innovation. The course emphasizes the real world application of concepts explored in the first three courses. Students will be presented with real world business problems, and then challenged to work in teams to develop potential solutions, including written concepts and rapid prototypes.
